Work on the roof beam installation commences and by mid May the upper roof beams are in place and the cane ceiling laths nailed and tied down. A short delay whilst more of the local cane is cut and prepared. The sockets for the floor beams are also being formed (a little higher than original to give more headroom on the ground floor). When these are in place the scaffold bracing will be removed as will the chain blocks and other miscellaneous props.
